OBJECTIVE:
This course focuses on specific procedures for using today’s laser alignment systems and the fundamental concepts and skills required to perform precision alignment. This unique approach provides not only an understanding of the specific procedures to follow for the laser system being used, but also builds the foundation required to understand how and why the system works the way it does.
The overall course objective is to align two coupled rotating machinery shafts to specified tolerances using a laser alignment system, including proper planning, rough and precision alignment processes, per approved procedures.
This 3 day training is appropriate for those who align machines, those who detect, investigate and resolve premature machinery failure due to misalignment, as well as those who direct activities related to alignment and machine reliability.
Prerequisites
- No prerequisite Laser Alignment experience is required prior to taking the class.
- No prior experience in vibration analysis or condition monitoring is required.
- The purpose of this training is to introduce the participant to Laser Alignment techniques.
- Good math skills and the ability to use and interpret graphs and tabular information will be beneficial in order to maximize understanding.

METHODOLOGY
· Standard lecture with the use of Power Point presentation and audio‐visual media and practical case studies will be analyzed critically to boost hands – on experience with practical demonstration of principles and techniques so listed. Participants will be grouped during the field exercise to enhance better understanding. Relevant information in the form of theories, data, trends and advances presented in a concise manual for reference purpose. · Interactive class sessions with active involvement of participants to be facilitated by experienced certified engineers. · 60% hands‐on with simulated practical discussions and 40% theoretical work. · Pre‐course and post‐course quiz.
